The Altai State Agricultural University (ASAU) is one of the oldest universities of the Altai Region. The University was founded in 1943 on the basis of the Pushkinskiy Agricultural Institute which was evacuated to the Altai Region from Leningrad.

The University is licensed to offer higher education courses in 17 areas of undergraduate studies (bachelor’s degree), one specialist’s degree (five-year program), 10 areas of master’s degree studies and 13 post-graduate areas (candidate of sciences degree) and 8 professional education courses.

At present there are about 4500 students enrolled at the following departments:

Agronomy Department

Biologic-Technological Department

Education directions: Animal Science (bachelor degree course, master’s degree course); Technology of Agricultural Products and Processing (bachelor degree course); Food Products of Animal Origin (bachelor degree course).

Economics Department

Education directions: Economics (bachelor degree course, master’s degree course); Management (bachelor degree course, master’s degree course); State and Municipal Administration (bachelor degree course).

Veterinary Medicine Department

Veterinary Medicine Major (5-year course); education direction: Veterinary and Sanitary Inspection (bachelor degree course).

Natural Resources Management Department

  2. Genetic monitoring and marker selection of agricultural crops animals in order to increase their productivity and product quality.
